This year, we’ve added two new shops to the Shop Hop lineup! Having two of our past shops close, we are pretty excited about this. Today we’d like to introduce you to Daydreams Quilt N Sew in Idaho Falls owned by Annalee Leonard. Here she is to tell you all about herself and her shop!

I have always loved sewing.  I got my 1^st sewing machine when I was 8.  It was the cutest little Holly Hobby sewing machine out on the market.  I got it for Christmas.  Much to my dismay it didn’t work.  I was so very sad.  My mom decided to let me use her sewing machine.  I started sewing straight lines on paper.  Then I sewed lines on an old pant leg that my mom had cut off a pair of holey jeans. Then she gave me a box of scraps to make things with.  I would make my dolls clothes and bags to put stuff in etc.  I was in heaven. That is where my sewing adventure began. 

I would also go to my grandma’s house and play in her buttons, loved the feel of tricot, flannel anything soft.  She would help us make different things when we were at her house.  I always remember her having a quilt on every time we went to her house.  We would play underneath the quilt. She would always let us help.  We would do a stitch or two and we were off on our many adventures. I loved going to grandma’s house.

I took home economics all through Jr. High and High school.  I loved the creative side, sewing and putting things together.  When I went to college I majored in Fashion Design and Production at Rick College (BYU-I). There I learned proper constructions and designing patterns.

I went to work for The Ribbon Retreat 4 years ago and have helped and managed their retail store.  That is where I really learned and developed a love for quilting.  Through the friendships that I made with the ladies that would come into the store, I learned new techniques and skills from them. I loved going to work every day.  I loved my job.  What is better meeting new friends and quilting???? My dream job came crashing to an end in June. The Ribbon Retreat decided to just focus on Ribbon and they were going to close out the fabric.  I just didn’t know what I was going to do.  I just had so many friends say I wish we had a good quilt shop.  Well that is where the dream of having my own shop began.

I opened Daydreams Quilt N Sew in November 2014.  We are located at 802 Pancheri Dr.  Idaho Falls, Id.  In the Riverwalk Plaza next to Rosemark on the west side of town.  I’m excited to be here. -Annalee
